so much for a break…

Well so much for a healthy, happy month off from hospital stays and treatment schedules. Once again, cancer reminds us that it has a mind of its own and here we are in the hospital. Sunday, Gray began running a fever. He was also complaining of a tummy ache. We watched and waited. Then in the middle of the night, Sunday night, Gray’s fever spiked at about 4AM and we were forced to take him into the hospital. They admitted him for tests. While waiting for the test results to come back the doctor’s decided to go ahead and give Gray antibiotics and Tylenol. His blood counts had dropped to 180. At first, we were told that Gray would stay in the hospital for 24-48 hours but this morning we received the results of Gray’s blood tests and unfortunately he has RSV…again. We also learned that Gray’s blood counts have dropped even further to 80. So, here we are in the hospital indefinitely. We’ve only been told that Gray has to stay admitted until his counts recover and for further monitoring of his RSV. RSV is so scary in young cancer patients because it can easily progress to pneumonia which can be extremely dangerous. Thankfully we got him to the hospital right away and so hopefully his early treatment of antibiotics will keep that from happening. Please pray for a quick recovery for our little man and for strength for us as a family. We desperately want to enjoy our month at home before Gray is admitted for his stem cell transplant and this sort of interruption is simply NOT welcome! Thank you all for your prayers and for your support. We will keep you posted.

“It is when a crisis arises that we instantly reveal upon whom we rely. If we have been learning to worship God and to place our trust in Him, the crisis will reveal that we can go to the point of breaking, yet without breaking our confidence in Him.” -Oswald Chambers

What can I say? So sorry to hear of little Grayson’s setback but I encourage you to hold on to God’s unchanging hand as you have all along. Looking at the big picture and seeing all that our Heavenly Father has brought him through will give you confidence for the future. Blessings on Grayson and your family today!

PRAYING!!! and BELEIVING this RSV will be healed and Gray can enjoy some home time before his transplant. We pray for you everyday. My girl, Kara, was just diagnosed with Leukemia (relapse)a few weeks ago. I prayed for your boy in the midst of her remission, and I probably pray with more emphathy now that she’s “fighting the fight” again! Much love!!

Sweet Gray, I said a prayer for you this morning before I even saw Mommy’s post about your setback. Sweet child I pray for God’s strength and healing for you. Sending Mommy and Daddy and family lots of prayers too.

Sweet darling, I bring you to the very throne of our God. Jesus, you said, “Suffer (let) the little children come unto me for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” Jesus, you took the children in your arms and blessed them. I’m calling on you now, Jesus to take little Grey into your arms and bless him from the top of his precious head to the very bottom of his feet. May the healing balm of Gilead pour through his little body and heal him TOTALLY, COMPLETELY. Jesus we will be careful to give you ALL the praise, In Jesus name, AMEN”

I just read your story for the first time, and I have been setting here staring at you picture with tears running down my face. Your mom gave you a strong name, because she knew even before you were born that you were gonna need to be strong even at a young age. I am a firm believer in the healing power of the Lord Jesus Christ, and I know he loves all of his children, especially the young ones. I will be praying for you every day and I know you will get your healing , and I will also be praying for your family ,because this is really hard on them also. I wish i could give you a great big kiss right on your little forhead and a big bear hug, but since I cant just know that this lady named Candy is on your side and my thoughts and prayers are with you always….Its a pleasure to know you and just know you will grow to be a wonderful man with a big story to tell. Loving you through the Lord Jesus Christ Candy
